MARSEILLE: FREEDOM

Derby band Marseille return with fast tempo new single!

Marseille are without doubt one of the most exciting indie bands about. 2022 has been a mightily impressive year for the band, which has seen them play their first major UK festival, at Isle of Wight (as part of the Songbird showcase), grow from 2 band members to 5 and see their fan base grow organically through word of mouth as a direct result of their outstanding singles and relentless gigging.

Their new single sees the band entering a new phase as a 5-piece.

Freedom, is a fast tempo, energetic floor filler that sees the band return to its roots after the release of their thumping 9 minute psychedelic odyssey The Jungle

From the songs opening pounding drumming, rumbling bass lines and captivating guitar hooks this song is instantly hypnotic and will have you feet tapping and your head nodding along.

The fast tempo remains predominantly throughout the track, apart from a where it slows down momentarily in the bridge, which sees the drums take control, before exploding back into life into a wall of screeching feedback and the addictive guitar hook that leads into explosive driven guitars, that has the lead guitar soaring and is glorious.

Marseille lead singer and songwriter Will Brownhad this to say about the song:

“Freedom is a song written about our hometown Derby. The lyric portrays how there’s not a lot going for it anymore. Once a city booming with life in the streets is now a dull, gloomy place which really needs something to liven it up again. i thoroughly believe our music could bring some life back to this city”

Marseille are evolving at a great pace and are a really exciting band. They are doing things their way and on their terms and it’s truly magnificent. Even though they’ve added 3 new members in 2022, the bands boundless enthusiasm and tightness in performance and sound is there for all to see.

Freedom sounds massive and will be the song that propels the band from rocknroll contenders to rocknroll stars.

Freedom is released on Friday 4th November and will be available across on streaming and download platforms.
