Welsh powerhouse, rocknrollers Columbia return with new single ahead of second album!
The new single, Disorder, is highly anticipated here at ThisIsTheMusic. With 2021 firmly putting the band on the map, in terms of single awareness, which culminated with the release of the bands debut album Embrace The Chaos in March 2022 (watch the ThisIsTheMusic album playback here or listen here) and several sold out gigs, the band have spent the remainder of the year working on new material at Kings Road Studios in Cardiff and are full of excitement at sharing Disorder with the world.
Disorder marks new territory for Columbia, both creatively and musically. Creatively, Disorder is the first song written by the bands lead guitarist Ben Rowlands and what a tune to start off with! Musically the band have introduced clever key tempo changes that are dramatic and will blow you away.
Kicking off with morse code and acoustic guitar, these huge swirling guitars and thunderous drums take over, creating a wall of sound that will quite literally blow your head off.
The bass lines are front and centre and have a real groove to them, really driving the songs verses along and are a standout moment in the song; think Red Hot Chilli Peppers and you’ll get what I mean.
As ever, frontman Craig Lewis’ vocal delivery leaves you awestruck and the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Like all the great Welsh singers the vocal is passionate, powerful and a force to be reckoned with.
As the title suggests, the song is about the disorder and chaos that are played out on our streets on a daily basis and is a protest at how this has been allowed to go on for so long.
The guitar hooks throughout the song are blistering, the sound they make as parts of the songs dramatic finale are hypnotic and mesmerising.
Ahead of the songs outro, the tempo is brought right down to drums and melodic guitars, before bursting into a supersonic jet engine full of squealing feedback, chain-saw distortion, and the song’s hypnotic guitar riffs for a rousing finale.
Disorder is such a powerful and energetic track full of blistering and spell-bounding guitar hooks. It’s a contender for single of the year and showcases exactly what Columbia are all about; music that will put your faith back in rocknroll.
Disorder is released on Friday 4th November. Its available to pre-save on Itunes and will be available on all streaming platforms.
