Laurie Wright set to release energetic rockn anthem, The Rockstar and The Fan.
Laurie Wright is one of Britain’s finest and most exciting solo stars. His new single, The Rockstar and The Fan, gives a huge glimpse into his exceptional talent and blew me away on the first listen. Something that I have no doubt will be the same for other listeners too.
From the opening chords to the end, you will be jumping around and pressing the repeat button to do the same thing over again.
The pace of the song is fast and furious, with electrifying guitar riffs and quite brilliant harmonica playing which remind me of The Strypes debut album Snapshot.
“The song is about the incorrect way we often approach relationships, and we’ve all been guilty of this at least once. Putting people on pedestals, will put you out of favour – ‘Treat someone like a rockstar and they’ll treat you like a fan”
Laurie‘s backstory is very colourful. Having graced the Glastonbury Festival at 16 to rave reviews, life hasn’t always been easy. Presented with opportunities that meant Laurie lived the whole “sex, drugs and Rocknroll” lifestyle to the max, he became addicted to drugs and alcohol, which resulted in regular instances of homelessness between the ages of 19-28.
However, the global pandemic and lockdowns brought a change of fortune and saw Laurie turn his life around and do what he does best: writing and recording music.
Starting off with him winning The Libertines “Talented Fans” competition and being called the ‘next big thing’ by Carl Barat.
Liam Gallagher is also a bit of a fan having tweeted ‘I’ve heard him, I like him.’
Pretty impressive for a lad who can still be seen busking the streets of London as seen on the video for previous single West End Lover.
The Rockstar and The Fan is a very exciting record, full of charisma and like Laurie Wright, is going to be massive.
The Rockstar and The Fan is released on Friday 9th September via all streaming and download platforms.
