2022 has been extremely busy for Craig Lee & The Humblebees, the solo project of Manchester’s Craig Lee. His new single, King For The Day, is the 3rd release of 2022 and thanks to its energetic tempo and catchy melody is an instant toe-tapper.
Lyrically, the song sees Craig questioning people in power “Leading the world astray, what would the neighbours say?, this kingdom of yours is falling apart again” to daydreaming about what he would do if he was “king for the day”: “clearing the streets of the spite that comes out way”. Which, when you consider what is currently going on across the world, this lyric takes on an even more that is powerful and poignant meaning.
Whilst the influence of 50s rocknroll is evident, there is a modern sound to the track, ensuring that King For The Day is a song that you will find impossible not to love.
