Small Talk are a 4-piece indie rock band hailing from the south coast (Bournemouth specifically).
Headstart is the bands debut single and its an anthemic song, that has a great melody, catchy guitar hooks and a powerful and passionate vocal from frontman Ben Lewis.
Lyrically the song tackles subjects such as love, loss, heartbreak and loneliness. In a world where social media influences and celebrities are constantly reminding us of the things we don’t have.
Each topic has taken on a greater meaning and importance in the past two years and I personally feel it’s great that a band is speaking out about these issues: especially as a first single.

Fromtman Ben Lewis had this to say about the single “Headstart was written at a time when I just felt inferior to everyone. It seemed everyone I knew on social media was moving on with their lives and doing amazing things while I was stuck in the same place. It kind of tackles that issue through the eyes of someone who went through a difficult relationship and experienced this downfall.”
Headstart is a song full of emotion and will get you to take a step back and think about the meaning behind the lyrics. This is only the beginning for the band, but they’ve set the bar with this song and I can’t wait to see what’s in store.
Headstart is released on Friday 18th February and will available on all streaming and download platforms
