Marseille return with more grit, vigour and high energy with their new single She Knows A Place.
From the first driving and energetic drum beat, you instantly know She Knows A Place is going to be a classic. The song rattles along at a ferocious pace, backed with swaggering guitar riffs (think prime Oasis) a brilliant bit of slide guitar thrown into the mix and a hint of piano, played in the vein of Jerry Lee Lewis.
For this single, Marseille welcome their new drummer, Tom and his impact is immediate. The drums effortlessly bounce along giving the song a punk vibe, whilst featuring tempo changes, which show another side to the bands sound.
“My baby says she‘ll give me the human race, maybe when I go they’ll come visit my grave, maybe I can see her face to face, cos after all she knows the place”
Marseille’s frontman, Will Brown had this to say on the new single:
“I was sitting around bored and decided to write a ‘Beatlesy’ ballad about a girl who takes you away to get off your face, and then getting lucky afterwards. But as the song evolved it gathered energy, becoming more ‘in your face’. Drawing in elements of the Sex Pistols, The Beach Boys and Oasis’s Definitely Maybe”.
She Knows A Place, blew me away on the very listen and it’s full of swagger and is a great rocknroll tune. It perfectly showcases the confidence within the band that they are going to be the next big thing. With songs like She Knows A Place, and 3 mightily impressive singles being them, it would be a brave person to bet against that happening.
She Knows A Place is released on Friday 11th February and will be a available on all streaming and download platforms.
Marseille are set to play live on 25th March at The Venue in Derby, at the Mr Shaw Presents “Happy Daze”. Tickets can be purchased here.
