JAKE DAVEY – WHAT DID YOU THINK WOULD HAPPEN – ALBUM PREVIEW

Jake Davey is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and talented solo artists on the new music scene. His debut album, What Did You Think Would Happen?, which is the culmination of Jake’s works over the past couple of years.

The album consists of 10 tracks including previous singles The Inner-City Lonely Child Blues (over 2k streams on Spotify)and Foggy Weather (nearly 1,500 streams on Spotify).

Personal highlights for me include:

Looking Up (Getting Better), which has a thumping bass line and is influenced by The Chemical Brothers anthem Block Rockin’ Beats.  Looking Up would have fitted in perfectly on the last Noel Gallagher‘s High Flying Birds album.

The Inner-City Lonely Blues, has a memorable melody, brilliant guitar riff and thanks to the harmonica, lends a nod to Dylan

Teenage Blonde, is an upbeat heartfelt, tune with great observational and carefree lyrics.

Foggy Weather is a great track, has a brilliant catchy guitar hook and melody and is another example of Jake‘s craftsmanship of producing songs that instantly connect with his audience.

The Ballad of Johnny Briggs is a smoky blues track, the slide guitar in the outro is fantastic.

What Did You Think Would Happen was recorded, produced and mixed by Jake, as well as the playing of all instruments.

What Did You Think That Would Happen? is released on Friday 10th December and can be pre-saved here and ordered via Bandcamp
