Cambridge alternative rockers release triumphant debut album.
If you like fast paced out and out rocknroll then you going to love Everything‘s Affected by Tom Lumley and the Brave Liaison.
The album has a total of 12 tracks, is the culmination of 4 years work and includes previously released singles Crawling, Better Than This, Fake Friends and Haunted.
Opening track Modern Age sets the tone for what’s to come. High energy, rumbling bass lines and killer guitar riffs. The vocal is powerful and contains lyrics that challenge you to question the status quo and stand and up and fight for what you believe in.
“I’m feeling trapped by this modern age, I’m gonna break the rules, we are the people working night and day cos we were raised as fools”
Anchor is a real stomper of a track with a great bass line that drives the song along. The guitar solo is sublime.
Say Nothing starts off slowly with just the vocal and guitar riff before exploding into life with the bass and drums kicking in and giving the song an instant energy. Say Nothing is one you can really rock out to.
Shrink oozes with energy and is relentless in it’s pace from start to end. Full of soaring guitar riffs.

Better Than This hits you like an express train at 100mph, grabbing hold of you and not letting go until the song finishes. One of many highlights on the record.
Fake Friends is a beast of a tune and really explores people who choose to surround themselves with fake friends and don‘t realise that its even happened. This is an out an out banger and I’m sure that when this is played live the scenes are/will be immense.
“You‘ve got fake friends and there’s no denying”
Chemicals brings the pace down a little, but still features explosive guitar riffs. Great harmonies on this track, which shows another side of the band, not seen on other tracks.
Casual has a great melody and full of great guitar riffs. I really like the stop/start nature of the song, enticing the listener in for what’s to come before exploding into life.
Crawling is an a high-octwine indie rock anthem, full of soaring guitar riffs. Lyrically the song explores how you know you shouldn’t return to an ex, but you can’t resist.
“You want me back, now I’m crawling, I’m just a fool that can’t resist a tease”
Hands of Time sees the band in real reflective mode as a relationship has run its course and is epitomised by the slower (but still rocking) nature of the song. The soaring guitar solo in the outro is amazing and just adds further momentum to the reflective nature of the song.
“Let the laughter resonate, can we go back before they carried you through the pain”
Better Days is a brilliant rocker of a song. With pounding drumming and soaring guitar riffs, Better Days is a song designed to show that whilst you may be down, good times and better days lie ahead.
Haunted is a great way to close the album. The bands most recent single and it’s easy to see why it’s gone down a storm with the fan base. It’s a brilliant song with a catchy melody, great lyrics and a guitar solo that you could just play in a loop for hours on end. The lyrics speak of regret and things that should have been said.
“I’m haunted, by the things I never said”
Everything‘s Affected is an outstanding debut album, full of epic guitar riffs, booming drums and great lyrics. The album is relentless in its pace and further demonstrates that the band have a collection of songs that are ready for areas.
