Bolton indie rockers set to release autobiographical tune “My Life” on October 8th.
The Shed Project continue to go from strength to strength and in My Life they have released their best song yet: which is some feat, considering the quality of their previous releases.
Starting off with a swirling organ, Roy’s voice joins in, before the rest of the band join in, before a Stone Roses sounding guitars and (thumping) drums kick in and quicken the tempo up.
Lyrically we get a glimpse into the life of a Roy Fletcher, when he was young whipper-snapper where he sings about “living on a council estate” “got brought up on hand me downs I didn’t moan I didn’t frown” and “listening to my mums LPs on the grammar phone” “we didn’t have have no mobile phones, four channels and a radio” . Whilst these lyrics are personal to Roy and his experiences, they are experiences that many will be able to relate to.
A real stand out lyric for me is this brilliant line and it should be a mantra for living your life: don’t settle for second best.
“So, dream those dreams, aim for the stars, show them what you mean, just be who you are.”
“My Life” is a fantastic single and now is the bands time to shine and let the Shed Head army continue to grow.
My Life is released on Friday 8th October and will be available to download and stream on all of the usual platforms.
The band are set to play Manchester’s The Square on 22nd October with MC Tunes. The gig sold out within hours of going on sale. However keep your eyes peeled on The Shed Project’s socials (links below) in the next few weeks for more gig announcements.
