When We Grow Up is the brand new single from Apollo Junction and they have delivered another great tune, which further demonstrates why its only a matter of time before the Yorkshire 5-piece will be playing arenas across the country.
The song instantly starts off with pounding drums, soaring guitars and mesmerising keyboards giving the song a euphoric sound.
The song reflects on the past and the dark times experienced by all during the pandemic, whilst delivering positivity, belief and togetherness in the lyrics; which as things start to gradually open up, takes on a greater emphasis.
The song sees the band working with a local choir for the first time. The choir feature in the middle 8 and the lyrics
“don’t go losing hope, don’t go letting go, you don’t have to change, get yourself together now”
capture the spirit of the song perfectly and also includes some falsetto singing!
As part of the promotion for this song, the band engaged with their social media followers to send a video of themselves doing something positive/something they loved (something I wish I’d got involved in!). The idea being that after 18 months of so much uncertainty it was time to spread some joy and happiness. As bass player Ben Hope recently tweeted the video is really emotional, so be sure to check it out when its released.
With regular plays and support from Graham Norton, Steve Lamacq and Janice Long, to name just a few and closing in on 1 million streams on Spotify, its a very exciting time to be a fan of and be in the band of Apollo Junction!
When We Grow Up, is released on Friday 30th July and is available to stream/download on all of the usual platform.
This single release follows hot on the heels of some very exciting announcements from the band which have included signing with Shed Load Records and the pre-sale for their highly anticipated second album “All In One” which can be purchased here
