Joey Greener is a Derbyshire based indie singer song writer and Take What You Can Carry is his debut EP, released on Saturday 3rd July.

The EP includes 4 new and original songs, which really showcases Joey‘s penchant for songwriting, brilliant melodies and heartfelt songs. The future looks very bright for this 15 year old.

Take What You Can Carry is the opening track and is an instant toe-tapper and really sets the tone of the EP. The song starts off with an acoustic guitar and a uplifting guitar riff, which features throughout. The song is dreaming of the future and full of wonder as to what may happen in the future.

Angela’s Song has already caught the attention of BBC Radio Derby/BBC Introducing and it’s easy to hear why. It‘s a great observational/storytelling lyric in the vein of Kelly Jones, reminiscing about the good times, but with a message to seize your life and don’t let it drift along.

Tommy Hates His Car has that classic indie pop/rock sound and posses a fantastic guitar solo in the outro. The melody on this song is instantly memorable, and the lyrics in the song are catchy, humours;  “and I can taste her lips on my second favourite breakfast bar” and will be relatable for many.

Hideaway posses a great guitar solo, which, with its drum pattern gives the song a Rockin’ Chair by Oasis vibe. The song tells the tale of wanting to escape from it all “just for a day”

Take What You Can Carry is a great EP and is a triumphant display of observational songwriting and will ensure that one of the industry’s best kept secrets is propelled into the mainstream.

As well as continuing to play live gigs on the local pub circuit, Joey was set to play at this years  YNOT Festival on July 31st, after going down a storm at the festivals virtual event in 2020. At the time of writing the festival organisers have brought the sad news that the festival is postponed for a further 12 months.

Joey can be followed across his social media platforms Instagram, Facebook, You Tube andSpotify.
