Fresh from their critically acclaimed single, The Devil (totalling nearly 2.5k streams on e Spotify in 2 weeks) Yorkshire electronic duo Darlings are back, with the release of their EP The Glitter Years; which is brimming full of anthems.

The first song is The Devil. We atThisIsTheMusic, have loved this song from the moment we first heard it. It has a great energy, full of passionate vocals, triumphant guitars ranging from atmospheric to fuzz, synths and a pounding drum beat.  This song was released a few weeks ago and is a great way to kick off The Glitter Years.

Sullen Light is driven by its psychedelic synth sound, before we get an excellent and exciting key change mid song. The key change, starts off with a thundering bass line, before an electric and mesmerising guitar riff kicks in, backed up with big pounding drums. This change in tempo, really had me toe-tapping and jigging along. Its another great example of Darlings writing a great anthem.

“It’s pretty much where we are at the minute – a representation of the direction we’re going in”

Performance Flawed is backed with a great guitar riff across the verses, with a hint of psychedelic about it, before a keyboard riff takes over in the chorus, and has a Myths Of The Near Future(Klaxoms) vibe about it. It is a great stomper of a track.

Hourglass is the 4th and final track, this starts off with in a swirl of synths, keyboards and pedals, before a big booming drum beat kicks in, giving the song a dance vibe and will have you dancing along.

Darlings have released a great EP and The Glitter Years is guaranteed to fill indie dance floors across the land and is in the conversation as being one of the best EPs of 2021 from an unsigned artist; which based on this evidence is a situation that will change rapidly.
