Wolforna are a 4 piece rock band hailing from Leeds and have just released their debut EP Harlequin which is a monumental record.
Wolforna consist of 4 members:
Jack Crabtree – Vocals/Rhythm Guitar; Adam Whittaker – Vocals/Lead Guitar; Alex Waite – Guitar/Bass and have recently added drummer Oli Barraclough to the group, which has allowed them to develop their newfound rock sound.
After rehearsing and recording, the band decided on the 4 original tracks that would make up Harlequin.
Opening track is Penrose a song that starts off with some acoustic guitar and Jack’s vocal, before we get a little bit of feedback before you are hit with a wall of noise, which gives the song an uptempo and energetic fell and is a great rock moment. The song them breaks down into is slower best, before the drums and electric guitars kick back in. The vocal is powerful and has a fantastic range.
Weeping House has a strong and beautiful melody. Its got a real grove to it and has possess great guitar riffs throughout.
In His Dreams starts off with a sweeping guitar riff which give the song a bit of sad (weeping) vibe, before out of nowhere we get this energetic big bluesy sounding guitar riffs, that pack a real punch something that The Rolling Stones would be proud of.
The final track is the title track Harlequin, which is full of epic riffs and is the EPs rockiest song. The bass is really evident on this and rumbles along, allowing the guitars and drums to give us a fresh take on how a rock song should sound.
Wolforna have delivered an incredible debut EP that as soon as it’s finished, will have you hitting repeat and playing it again and again. It’s fresh and the future looks very bright for band, who are set to play some live gigs for the first time as a four piece.
The band are scheduled to headline The Verve Bar in Leeds on 23rd July and an appearance at Moor Festival in Dewsbury the following day.
