Iconic is the brand new EP release from The Skinner Brothers and will be released on 7th May on Blaggers Records.

The Skinner Brothers are led by Zac Skinner, the charismatic frontman, songwriter and mastermind. The Iconic EP, see Zac raising his game as a songwriter and will propel the band from underground favourites with a hardcore fan base (over 21k monthly listeners on Spotify)into the main stream. 2021 has already seen the band receive national air play on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6 Music show, Mickey Bradley (of The Undertones) at Radio Ulster and championed by legendary new music champions, This Feeling.

Iconic, is a 4 track EP, full of anthems, grooves, amazing melodies and is going to be massive.

The first track on the EP, is the title track, Iconic. The song hits you at 100mph and the tone is immediately set. With lyrical references ranging from The Doors, Ian Drury and Oasis, Zac is not afraid of showing who is influences are. The guitar playing on the track is mesmerising and the guitar riffs throughout are “Iconic”. The video sees Zac running full throttle through the countryside, before being in full boxing training mode and, in this writers opinion, is showing that The Skinner Brothers are coming to knock out the competition.

“Call the Billericay Dickie, man I’m feeling wicked”

Next up is M.O.R.E, another brand new track for the EP. This song is a mid-tempo track with lyrics longing for better times and wanting more than what you’ve currently got and is an auto-biographical song reflective of Zac’s musical journey up to this point. The song features an epic guitar solo as part of the song’s outro and really showcases Zac’s ability as a musician.

“Give me more love, give me more life, give me more day, give me good times”

Low is the third track and will be familiar to many, as it was the most recent single release. To date, it has amassed over 70k streams on Spotify alone. The song has a driving drum beat, which the song is built around and is quickly joined by a grooving bass line. The song has a punk vibe at its heart, and is a real anthem, telling a story of euphoric highs and lows. The song features a powerful guitar riff prior to being hit with the last chorus.

“I’m a weekender offender baby, yeah I’ve got style”

The final track of the EP is an acoustic version of Away Days and features Rob Harvey (The Music) and Russ Pritchard (The Zutons, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds). The song encapsulates Zac’s feelings of going to football and watching the match. Away Days is a song full of passion, is a real anthem and will resonate with many football supporters up and down the country. The acoustic version of the song, shows a more tender side, whilst still remaining true to the original version.

“It’s pints for the lads in the morning time, Police they clash with our colours, We’re singing to the songs on the jukebox like, Ye Old English brothers”

When discussing the Iconic and future EP plans, Zac stated, “We decided we wanted to keep it moving this year so we’re challenging ourselves to put out 3 EPs without any filler. Every song’s got to feel like it belongs and each EP will top the last. This one’s a good start, but it’s just the start.”

2021 is sent to be a busy year for The Skinner Brothers. As well as looking to release 2 more EP’s, they are headlining the historic and sold out 100 Club in London, in August and have recently announced they are supporting The Streets on 4 of their UK summer dates, including the Crystal Palace Bowl and Castleford Bowl. In addition they have a support slot with The Music lined up for the summer of 2022.
