After receiving air play on SiriusXM in America, Sharp Class, return with Living for Kicks a modern day Mod, anthem.
From the first note to the last, the song is full of energy, instantly grabbing your attention and wanting you to keep the song on repeat. The drumming is powerful, but not overbearing, the bass thunders along and the guitars jangle.
Living for Kicks, conveys the notion that everyone’s lives subconsciously revolve around the idea of living for the sake of enjoyment and distraction. Using this notion, the verses tell a story of ordinary people’s lives, before the chorus brings them all together by “Living for Kicks”
The band have also released a brilliant b-side, in Time Meant Nothing To Me (remember those!?!). Which could have been an a-side on its own, it is really that good. Full of energy, thundering drums and guitar riffs the song really encapsulates the band putting their heart and soul into everything they release, even if it’s only a b-side.
On both songs the influence of The Jam/Paul Weller, The Kinks, The Who and Sex Pistols are there, in terms of style and attitude. However, don’t be fooled into thinking they are just copying these legendary bands. No, Sharp Class are doing things their way and through word of mouth are making a real name for themselves.
If you haven’t already then check out the bands covers of Waterloo Sunset, Gimme Some Love (full band version on Spotify) and Down in the tube station at midnight, as they both excellent versions of these three great songs.
