Up and coming Indie legends, Lock-In surprised fans with the announcement of Notebook comprising of two new tracks, both of which firmly cement the bands position as being “Ones to watch in 2021”
Both songs are acoustic, which is in complete contrast to the previous 3 singles we’ve heard, which were jangly guitar indie anthems. However the bands ability to write brilliant catchy melodies remains.
Someone I Used to Know, is the first song and the opening chords follow a similar pattern to The Girl with X-Ray Eyes by Noel Gallagher. However don’t think this song is a carbon copy, as Someone I Used To Know is about a breakdown in a relationship and how to deal with the consequences. On listening to this song, the range and quality of Benji’s voice is there for all to see.
The Train, is a reflective song, looking back on past mistakes, as well as looking to the future and how things can be better: which is poignant for these Covid times we have lived in and now the roadmap to getting back to normality: emphasised in the lyrics.
