Apollo Junction – On The Ropes Review

After a highly successful 2020, which saw the bands three released singles total over 100,000 streams on Spotify, and the bands anthem Begin, feature in new Ubisoft game “Watchdogs Legion, there is much excitement and anticipation with the latest Apollo Junction release.

On The Ropes is a brilliant indie pop electronica, phenomenon and opens with a 6-piece choir, before exploding into life with big drums, Johnny Marr style guitar playing and vocals that draw you in and give you an instant connection with the song.

The song draws on influences from the NewRomantic era and 90s Britpop, and includes synthesisers, a big explosive chorus that is instantly memorable; this is a song that Kasabian would be proud of writing. There isn’t much more higher praise than that.

Fingers crossed that Covid doesn’t have a major impact on the bands plans for 2021, which includes slots at prestigious festivals (IoW, Bingley Weekend); biggest headline show to date in Leeds; as well a support slot with Kaiser Chiefs and hopefully recording their second album, which precedes this single.

On The Ropes is released on 22nd January and is available from all the usual streaming platforms, including Spotify, and can be download from the ITunes Store.
