Solo artist Sam Lambeth, is back with his second single release The King (You and Me) and it is another total masterpiece of pop brilliance, that grabs your attention from the first listen.
The King, which has been ten years in the making and well worth the wait in my opinion, is a more rockier and up tempo song in comparison to debut single “When Love Ain’t Enough” and shows another side to Sam’s song writing and as Sam says “that was always the plan. I wanted the second cut you heard to be a bit lighter, fuller and rockier”.
The King starts off with just a guitar before becoming more expansive with keyboards and mandolin all featuring, which allows the song to build some momentum, before suddenly stopping and leading us to the very catchy chorus, with Sam singing “Whatever happened, Whatever happened to you and me?”.
The song also includes a brilliant, powerful and punchy guitar solo, which really showcases Sam’s guitar playing (which matched with his lyrics makes for a formidable combination) and ability as a multi-instrumentalist.
The King shows a completely different side to Sam’s ability as a songwriter, which I think is great to see and I for one, cannot wait to see the next musical offering from Sam.
