Indie rockers Shambolics performed a brilliant live “streamed” at The Caves in Edinburgh, raising some much needed funds for Kirkcaldy food bank.
Opening with My Time is Now, their ‘Rock n Roll Star’ the tone was set for an energetic set.
The band showcased three new songs. The first song we heard was Council Estate Mind, a song about dreaming of a better life. The song started with started off with a hip hop style drum beat, a rap from Forbes before giving way to the Shams trademark sound. We heard Living in the Shadows, an acoustic ballad; a side we’ve not heard from the band before and Dreams, Schemes and Young Dreams, which had big thundering drums and a brilliant chorus.
The band also enlisted the help of Glasvegas frontman James Allan who played a Pale Blue Eyes and The Views Kyle Faulkner to play a fantastic version of Fleetwood Mac’s EveryWhere, a song previously covered by the band during lockdown.
The set was completed with fans favourite Chasing A Disaster and their most recent single Love Collides, which has a memorable guitar riff.
After a gig like that, it is easy to see why label boss Alan McGee to stated that The Shams “one of the great Scottish bands”
